The soils here consist of calcareous sandstone (Helvetian), which contributes finer tannins and a touch more elegance than the heavier Tortonian soils further west.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e The nose reveals aromas of preserved cherry, blackberry, and plum, underpinned by eucalyptus, licorice, and cinnamon. There are also hints of violet and dried herbs.
