barolo-docg-bussia-2018
Barolo DOCG Bussia 2018

Bussia is considered one of the great single vineyards of Piedmont — and this Barolo from Arnaldo Rivera shows why. Two southwest-facing plots at an altitude of around 400 meters provide 100% Nebbiolo, which develops a depth after about 32 months of aging in wooden barrels that you recognize immediately in the glass.

In the glass, it glows in a transparent ruby red with orange reflections — a typical sign of classically aged Nebbiolo. The nose shows plum, pickled cherries, rose blossom, and licorice. On the palate, there is present yet finely integrated tannin, lively acidity, and a dense, elegant structure. The finish lasts a long time — a very long time.

This Barolo needs time in the glass: decant for at least two hours so that it opens up completely. Serving temperature: 17–18 °C. Classic companions are goose leg, wild boar ragù, or aged Castelmagno. For those who prefer to leave the bottle unopened, be advised: the aging potential is considerable. Delivery is in a 6-bottle wooden crate.
