Heitlinger
The German winery Heitlinger is located halfway between Heidelberg and Heilbronn and was founded in 2009. Under the management of Heinz Heiler, the winery cultivates 80 hectares, primarily planted with Burgundy varieties (Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, and Auxerrois), but also with grape varieties such as Riesling and Chardonnay. The vines grow on loess, clay, calcareous marl, and Stubensandstein soils. Under the supervision of cellar masters Jürgen Kern and Daniel Rupp, the Heitlinger winery produces around 580,000 bottles of wine annually. Together with its sister company, Weingut Burg Ravensburg, Heitlinger even achieved EU organic certification, making it one of the largest organic wineries in Germany. Furthermore, it was admitted to the VDP (Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates) in 2012. With the arrival of the committed investor Heinz Heiler, this not inconsiderable estate (40 hectares) in the Kraichgau region experienced a revival. Not only the award-winning redesign of the bottles, but also their contents clearly convey the ambition for a leading position in this still underestimated region. The latest additions to this development are the two cuvées "Black Tie" and "White Tie." The experienced Claus Burmeister of Burg Ravensburg ensures continuity as estate manager. However, it originates from the select vineyards of the Heitlinger winery, giving it its own unique, softly fruity character. The production of this sparkling wine begins in the vineyard. Each year, the most suitable plots are chosen during pruning and then receive special care throughout the year, following the French model (Champagne). At harvest, the grapes are hand-picked and processed into sparkling wine using methods focused on achieving the highest quality. The sparkling wine is characterized by the yeasty notes so highly prized in Champagne and its delightful aromas of brioche and cassis. On the palate, a fine, effervescent mousse, resulting from its extended 24-month lees aging, is captivating.
