Château Poujeaux
A fortunate twist of fate drew the Theil family's attention to Château Poujeaux in the mid-20th century. They initially acquired a parcel, then Jean Theil consolidated the entire estate, reviving the château's former renown. Poujeaux was back. In 2008, Philippe Cuvelier and his son Matthieu took over the château northeast of Moulis. They had already demonstrated their talent with great success at Château Clos Fourtet, a Premier Grand Cru Classé de Saint-Émilion. Now they were to take the reins of this exceptional Cru Bourgeois from Moulis-en-Médoc. Ambitious, dedicated, and with great sensitivity and savoir-faire, they breathed new life into the estate. Supported by their best employees and with oenological advice from Stéphane Derenencourt, they are investing strategically and efficiently in the entire production process to propel Château Poujeaux steadily upwards, from the pinnacle of Moulis wines to the pinnacle of the Médoc Crus. Their first vintage, 2008, was a magnificent debut.

Moulis-en-Médoc is one of the more compact appellations in the Médoc – and Château Poujeaux has been one of its most trusted names for generations.
