{"title":"Château Gazin Rocquencourt","description":"The Cabernet Sauvignon, which dominates Château Gazin Rocquencourt, is elegant with lush, silky tannins, while the Merlot is rounded with dense, sensual fruit. All grapes were selected and hand-harvested in the vineyard. The chosen grapes are destemmed, transferred to the fermentation cellars by gravity alone, and fermented in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. After alcoholic fermentation, the wines undergo malolactic fermentation and are then aged for fifteen months in traditional French oak barriques (40 percent new wood) to achieve harmonious balance and perfection. Since 2006, the estate has been supported by the Bonnie family (also owners of Château Malartic-Lagravière Grand Cru Classé in the neighboring commune of Graves), who acquired Château Gazin Rocquencourt in 2006, live on the property, tend the garden, and breathed new life into the entire estate. The vineyards belong to the Pessac-Léognan appellation. Twenty-two hectares of the estate\u0026#39;s thirty hectares are planted with vines. Red varieties, primarily Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, dominate, while two and a half hectares are reserved for Sauvignon Blanc, from which the single-varietal Château Gazin Rocquencourt Blanc was first produced in the 2010 vintage and has been regularly produced ever since. To protect the environment and thus the quality of its wines and vineyards, the estate has adopted an internal environmental charter (officially certified by HVE since 2015) encompassing soil management, integrated viticulture (certified since 2008), and the increasing use of organic and biodynamic farming methods for individual parcels. The cellar facilities have also been adapted; since 2007, grapes and wines have been transported gently using only gravity.
