Bobby's Gin Distribution BV
When asked about their grandfather, Bobby Alfons, Sebastiaan and David recount how he emigrated to the Netherlands and sorely missed the aromas of his birthplace, Naku, on the Moluccan spice island of Ambon. Sebastiaan says, “I remember the inspiring days at my grandfather Bobby’s house, filled with family and laughter, with the aromas of spices like lemongrass, cloves, cinnamon, coriander, and cubeb peppers enchanting the room—the very plants he used to infuse his Dutch genever.” Two or three decades later, the grandsons felt it was time to rediscover their family tradition, especially their grandfather’s traditional spice blend, his Pinang Raci. Sebastiaan: “I started my career in the beverage industry, but I needed to forge my own path. I was ready to create something special, exciting, and heartfelt. My mother and I got along well, and during a long discussion at the dinner table, she suggested, ‘How about Grandfather Bobby’s recipe?’ With the help of the whole family, we rediscovered and reconstructed Grandfather Bobby’s traditional Pinang Raci recipe, which involves infusing genever with a blend of spices. Finally, Aunt Betty remembered the Indonesian spice mix. And so began the grandchildren’s journey to creating Bobby’s Gin.”

Bobby's Gin combines two worlds: the spicy depth of Dutch genever and the clear botanicals of a modern dry gin — unique, not an interchangeable London Dry.

This gin is a tribute to Robert Alfons, an Indonesian who came to the Netherlands after World War II and passed on his passion for spices to his grandchildren.
