{"title":"AH Riise Spirits ApS","description":"AH Riise developed its rum in the former Danish Virgin Islands, also known as the Danish West Indies. Thanks to Peter Kelstrup, a descendant of AH Riise, the rum recipes have been preserved as they were in the time of the famous pharmacist. The history behind rum production in the Danish West Indies is quite dramatic. When Denmark first colonized the Virgin Islands of St. John and St. Thomas, they were uninhabited. Denmark steadily introduced new plant varieties, established plantations cultivated by slave labor, and became embroiled in numerous conflicts and confrontations with rival nations. The first Danish governor of the Virgin Islands rather unconventionally granted pirates the right to sail under the Danish flag to expand their fleet. In the capital, St. Thomas, stands Skytsborg, Blackbeard\u0026#39;s Castle, named after the infamous pirate.","products":[],"url":"https:\/\/www.vinoscout.de\/en\/collections\/a-h-riise-spirits-aps.oembed","provider":"Vinoscout","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
